About Beginner Queens
Beginner adds a single row and column, and that turns out to matter more than it sounds. On a 5×5 board the colour regions stop being obvious, and you can no longer solve a puzzle purely by hunting for the one region with a single open cell.
The skill this tier teaches is elimination in both directions. Once a queen is placed, its whole row, its whole column and all eight surrounding squares are gone — mark them and the board shrinks fast. Beginner puzzles typically take two to three minutes, and most of that is bookkeeping rather than thinking.
Work through all 39 and you will start seeing forced moves a step ahead of where you are looking, which is exactly what the 6×6 boards in Easy will demand of you.
Game Rules
- Each row must have exactly one queen.
- Each column must have exactly one queen.
- Each color region must have exactly one queen.
