Privacy Policy
Grid Leveling has no accounts and asks for no personal details. This page explains what the site does store, which third-party services it uses, and what you can do about it.
Last updated
This policy applies to the website at https://gridleveling.com ("Grid Leveling", "the site", "we"), operated by Krupali Nakrani, an individual developer based in India. Questions go to gridleveling@gmail.com.
1. What we do not collect
The site has no sign-up, login, profile, comment or payment feature. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number or any other personal detail to play.
We do not run a database of players. If you email us, we see the address you send from and use it only to reply.
2. What is stored in your browser
Your game progress is saved by your own browser using local storage, on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. It includes:
- which levels and daily puzzles you have completed, and your best times;
- your display choices: light or dark mode and the colour theme;
- your cookie consent choice (see section 4);
- whether you dismissed the "install as app" prompt.
Clearing your browser's site data for gridleveling.com removes all of it. Progress lives only on the device, so it does not follow you to another browser or device.
The site can be installed as a web app. Your browser then keeps a copy of the site's pages and assets (a "service worker" cache) so it loads quickly and opens offline. That cache holds no personal data.
3. Analytics
We use two services to understand how the site is used, for example which games are popular and which pages load slowly. Both are set up so that we never see who an individual visitor is.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics (GA4) records page views and anonymous game events such as "level completed", with technical details like browser type, screen size, approximate region and referring site.
It uses cookies only if you accept them in the consent banner. Until then, Google's consent mode keeps analytics and advertising storage denied, so no analytics cookie is set. IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage.
Google's own policy is at policies.google.com/privacy. You can block Google Analytics everywhere with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights
The site is hosted on Vercel, which provides page-view counts and performance timings. These are cookieless and do not build a profile of visitors. See Vercel's privacy policy.
4. Cookies and consent
When you first visit, a banner offers "Essential only" or "Accept all". Your choice is saved in local storage so you are not asked again on that device.
- Essential only keeps the site working (theme, progress, consent record) and sends no analytics or advertising cookies.
- Accept all additionally allows Google Analytics cookies and, where ads are shown, personalised advertising cookies.
To change your mind, clear the site data for gridleveling.com in your browser settings and the banner will appear again on your next visit. You can also email us for help.
5. Advertising
To cover hosting costs the site may show advertisements served by Google AdSense. Ads are never placed over a puzzle board.
Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites, but only if you accepted advertising cookies in the consent banner. Otherwise Google serves non-personalised ads that rely on context rather than on your history.
You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings and read how Google uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell or rent any data, and we have no personal data to share. The only third parties that process information about visitors are the services named above (Google, Vercel), each under its own privacy policy.
Fonts are bundled at build time and served from our own domain, so no font request reaches Google.
7. Children
Grid Leveling is a general-audience puzzle site suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (the EU and UK under the GDPR, California under the CCPA, India under the DPDP Act), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, to object to processing, or to complain to a supervisory authority.
Since the site holds no personal data about you, these requests mostly apply to the third-party services, whose controls are linked above.
For anything else, email gridleveling@gmail.com with "Privacy" in the subject and we will respond within 30 days.
9. Links to other sites
The blog and footer link to sites we do not control (itch.io, Google, LinkedIn). Their privacy practices are their own.
10. Changes to this policy
If we add a service or change how one is used, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Significant changes, such as adding ads for the first time, will also be mentioned on the About page.
