Medium is the shape LinkedIn's own puzzle uses: five rungs between the two ends. Most ladders are four-letter words and some are five, because difficulty here is about the words, not their length: the vocabulary stays everyday, but five rungs means 120 possible orders and only one of them is a ladder.
The daily draws on this shape most, so this tier is the best practice for it. Look at the letters your solved rungs share; the answer to the clue you're stuck on has to share all but one of them with a neighbour.
